Beowulf Alley Theatre is nurturing the talent.

Its "Page on the Stage: The Outrageous New Playwright's Workshop Series" will include new plays by a trio of accomplished guys - writer John Vornholt, who counts science fiction and adult books among his publications; retired teacher and prolific playwright Gavin Kayner; and actor and playwright Jonathan Northover.

The directed plays won't be fully produced, but the actors will be up and on their feet; there will be some lighting; and the audience will get a strong idea about the story and characters. Good thing, too - the audience is invited to stay after and tell the playwrights, actors and directors what worked. And what didn't. It's a pretty exciting way to be in on the creative process.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays-Fridays, 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through July 18. Advance purchase: $12; $30 for three-play series; $15 door. 882-0555. Check Beowulf's website for more information: www.beowulfalley.org
