FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Beowulf Alley Theatre Presents Proof by David Auburn

(March 30, 2009-Tucson, AZ) Beowulf Alley Theatre Company, 11 South 6th Avenue, Downtown Tucson, will present Proof by David Auburn, April 10-26 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m.

The last play of the 2008-2009 season at Beowulf Alley, Proof is being directed by Sheldon Metz (Noche de los Muertos). The cast includes Jill Baker, Chris Farishon, Jonathan Northover and Roberto Guajardo, recipient of the 2008 Tucson Pima Arts Council Lumies Award for Lifetime Achievement and the Tucson Weekly 2006 "Best of Tucson" Award -- Best Performance by a Thespian.

When asked to describe the play, Director Metz said, “Proof superficially explores topics of mental stability and genius. More significantly, it's a play about character, about finding solutions to life's problems and the trust we place in these solutions, in ourselves, and in each other. The proof in Auburn's play is less about mathematics than it is about putting trust to the test. “

The April 10th preview performance is at 7:30 and the ticket price is $10. Saturday, April 11 is opening night with a post show reception to follow. Dialogues with…, a discussion session, will follow the Sunday, April 12 performance with the director, cast, designers and production team. General admission tickets are $20.

As part of our community commitment, we will be hosting a benefit performance and post-show Reception hosted by The Cup Cafe, Hotel Congress to celebrate mathematics and support the U of A Center for the Recruitment & Retention of Mathematics Teachers on Thursday, April 23— Tickets are $30 ($10 is a donation for CCR). We hope you will attend this worthwhile event and help them raise funds to continue to help teachers help and inspire their students.

There is an online discount for all performances except the preview at our website, www.beowulfalley.org.
